Meaning:a state without friends or money or prospects
Example:Yet he was also deeply moved by South Korea's destitution.

Meaning: lacking the power to perform
Example: He was grieving for mankind, for man's inability to connect with his fellow man, maybe for the need to dream.
Incapable=unable to do or achieve (something).
examples:The truck is considered incapable of exceeding about 140 km/h.
Starvation=suffering or death caused by hunger.
examples:Hundreds of giant pandas in China could die from starvation because the bamboo plants they eat have begun to flower and die back.
Deprivation=the damaging lack of material benefits considered to be basic necessities in a society.
examples:At that level of sleep deprivation, a monkey's performance would normally drop to the point where it could barely function at all.
Dearth=A scarcity or lack of something.
examples:The dearth of women presenters is not unusual.
Thwart=prevent (someone) from accomplishing something.
examples:Mark Milligan risks the referee's wrath as he leaps to thwart South Korea's Seoul Ki-Hyun.
Famine=Extreme scarcity of food.
examples:Niger's Government repeatedly refused demands from its starving people for food aid and denied a famine was occurring until it was too late.
Drought=A prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall; a shortage of water resulting from this.
examples:There is no end in sight to the drought afflicting the Murray.
